Nandri’s mission is to empower the impoverished mothers and families in rural villages of Tamil Nadu in southern India. Nandri is the Tamil word for ‘Thank You’. 

Nandri is a catalyst for social change. We currently have 6000 members in mothers self-help groups in 92 villages and we are launching a 2022 Sponsor a Village Programme.

Sponsor A Village

We are asking groups or organisations to Sponsor a Village for €2000 and to help us achieve the following goals:

• Increase access to income generation loans to grow village economies

• Increase opportunities for 3rd level education for more village families

• Grow our community farming model and create greater awareness in the village of how vital it is to protect and nourish nature. 

This initiative will also help reach new villages in the Tamil Nadu region, further supporting sustainable development in the region. 

• Organising mothers into self-help groups

• Developing a culture of support for others in the self-help groups

• Arranging microfinance loans for mothers

• Supporting mothers with emergency and education loans

• Delivering education and training courses on parenting, employment opportunities and income generation

• Promoting organic community farming, so local groups can work together to cultivate wasteland or underutilised land to earn a livelihood

• Promoting tree planting and water harvesting
